INSTRUCTORS

MAUREEN DA SILVA

Maureen Da Silva (she/her) is a Tkaronto/Toronto-based printmaker and art-educator. She primarily works in silk screen and relief, and dabbles in bookbinding. She has taken her love of print into the co-founding of the not-for-profit artist group, The inPrint Collective, of which she is the Studio Manager. Through this collective, Maureen has been proud to showcase print-based work and/or develop community programs for NuitBlanche (2012), Cultural Hotspots (2016 - 2022), CONTACT Festival (2022) and more. Maureen's work explores pattern and collage within a printmaking framework, often revisiting past stencils and blocks in new configurations. She also embraces learning curves, and the possibilities of regeneration in the face of failure as part of her practice. Maureen has a BFA from York University and a Masters of Women & Gender Studies from UofT, and continues to participate with Feminist Art Collective (FAC), and offer demos and workshops as a Speedball Demo Artist.

NICKI TRAIKOS

Nicki Traikos has been an artist at heart her entire life. The mediums may have changed greatly over the years, but the goal has always been the same to have the courage to try, and to find joy in the moments exploring. Known best for her watercolour paintings, Nicki has a casual and approachable philosophy about making art and inspires other artists to adopt it too. Nicki also enjoys photographing and capturing moments with her phone while travelling that will then inspire her next painting, class, and even book.
