Curating Your Booth
The curation of your booth is a key factor in ensuring your success at the fair.
We recommend creating a layout plan before arriving to streamline your installation process. Upon arrival onsite, you’ll have access to your booth and can make any necessary adjustments as needed.
Artist Project does not endorse external coaching or curation assistance. If you are approached by anyone offering these services - paid or unpaid - please contact Ross at Ross.Jennings@informa.com.
Please follow the guidelines below when designing your booth:
- Artists must display artwork that is consistent with their application.
- Artists are not permitted to lean artwork against the wall or stack artwork on the floor (unless a sculpture). This includes all uninstalled work.
- Artists are not permitted to display artwork on print racks in their booth.
- Shelving is permitted. We recommend discreet shelving, though other shelving styles may be permitted so long as they match the aesthetic of your booth, please contact Ross for more details.
- Artwork may not extend beyond the perimeter of your booth into the aisle.
- During the fair artists are only permitted to make like-for-like replacements that require no hanging hardware changes.
- Artists are permitted to re-install and re-hang all work before show hours.
- Artists may not have draped tables in their booth.
- Exhibits including the operation of musical equipment, radios, sound motion picture equipment, public address systems or any noise making devices will not be permitted without written approval from show management.
- Artists are encouraged not to overhang their booths either by content of artwork installed or through salon style hanging. Artist Project reserves the right to request a re-hanging of a booth if required.
Sales Policy
Below you will find some frequently asked questions around sales.
Do you take commission?
Artist Project does not take commission from sales.
How do I price my work?
Our recommendation is to speak to your peers and artists with a similar practice who have experience selling. You can also make the most of the Artist Project community by familiarizing yourself with your fellow exhibitors and reach out.
Please contact Ross (ross.jennings@informa.com) with any further questions.
How do I sell my work?
The most popular and user friendly Point of Service (POS) are Square, Shopify, or Lightspeed. You can also send clients invoices directly through an online system (Quickbooks etc.), or accept payment through direct deposit.
It is essential that you receive full payment for the item prior to any handover.
How can clients arrange to pick up their purchased work?
How the work is delivered to the client is at your discretion. You are permitted to allow the client to take the work at the moment of sale, we will have a dedicated wrapping station at the front of the fair with free materials.
If a client wishes to come back for the work at another time during the weekend, this will be permitted. They will need to let our staff know upon arrival and we will issue them another ticket to enter the fair.
You can also arrange for delivery after the fair.
Can I re-hang after my work has sold?
Full details about the replacement of work can be found in the guidelines above.
Sales Tax (HST)
You may be required to collect and remit 13% HST of the selling price of your products. Depending on your income level and business structure you may need to register for an HST number with the government. To register, or to determine if you are HST exempt, please visit Canadian Revenue Agency website, call 1-800-959-8281 or discuss with your accountant.
Please note that you must have your HST number available onsite should a customer or a tax official request to see it.
